More Ideas on Groups

I really like all of the ideas I've been hearing and I will try to make some changes for the January meetings. I love the idea that sparklepants had about having questions on cards and moving from group to group if you want. I'm just not sure how that will work if people are eating lunch during the discussion. Should we change the schedule and have reading/reporting time while you eat? We may have to do some experimenting.
I'm thinking of having one combined 5th/6th grade meeting every couple of weeks. I liked having everyone there at the same time last week. There was a good energy to it?

Books Chosen as Nominees

There is a committee every year that chooses the books that will be Golden Sower nominees. Do you think that they chose a good selection of books? Why do you think that these particular books were nominated?

Your Thoughts About the Books

We've been reading the books for a couple of months and most people are making good progress toward their goal. Are you enjoying the books and which one is your favorite so far?

New Year, New Titles, New Ideas

Last year some students said that they didn't like the whole group discussions about any books that people were reading. They said that they would rather read a book with other people and then discuss that book at the meeting.
I'm open to whatever you want to do. Let me know if you want to read independently or with a group. We can have both things happening at once.
Do you have any ideas about how a group determines what books they are reading? I can get more copies of the books if we need them. How will the fast reader or the slow reader fit into this new set up?
