The author named the book Notes From The Dog because Fin's dog would bring him notes that his neighbor, Johanna, would teach him throughout the book to encourage him.
the author called it notes from the dog because finn is getting notes from his dog, but johanna his neighbor is the really the one who is sending them,and all she is trying to give finn is more self confidence and teach him how to except things.
The name of the book is called Notes For A Dog i think because the dog always has a note in its mouth and it adds to the mystery of the book is the reason that the author chose that as the title. The author could have named the book alot of things because there was many lessons learned in the book and he could of called the book many more things like he could have named it somthing that has to do with Finn learning about speaking to other people and learning that if you use the whole bag of fertilizer that has cow manure in it and you water it alot that it smells really really bad!
Gary Paulsen named the book Notes from the Dog because of the fortune cookie notes Finn was getting from his dog Dylan. Finn figures out that the notes are coming from Johanna, Finn's neighbor who has breast cancer.I think the notes add to the story because Johanna at the end hands him a note instead of giving it the Dylan.And i thought that gave the book a special touch:)
